Google Has Acknowledged the New ‘Zero-Day’ Exploit

You must have used the Google Chrome web browser at some point or the other. There was serious news about the security of this very common and popular browser that raised concerns. All users needed to be on high alert when Google issued urgent upgrade warnings for the second time in a week. The number of people using Google Chrome is very high. It is used by about 2 billion users or 2 billion people. So, the danger is too big.

Google has accepted a serious problem with Google Chrome’s security and asked users to upgrade the browser. Understand the seriousness of the matter in such a way that minor security problems are rectified without spreading the word. But this time, Google has admitted to exploiting the new ‘Zero-day.’ This means that hackers have come to know about this, and users are currently incurring losses due to this flaw. They’re in danger. This is the seventh zero-day vulnerability of the year CVE-2021-30554, found in Google Chrome.

Go to Settings > Help > About Google Chrome. If your browser version appears to be 91.0.4472.114 or above, you are safe and if not, update manually. Restart your browser after updating. Google also reported that the version included three more high-level threats. So, the best is to check the updates soon.

Talking to the blinking computer, security vendor Kaspersky reported that a new group of hackers is active these days and is after Google Chrome, Forbes reported. These people call themselves ‘puzzlemaker’ and have found a way to install the malware in the Windows system by chaining Chrome’s Zero Day Bugs. Things even escalated that Microsoft had to issue urgent security warnings last week for Windows users.

Cast your screen

You’re probably aware that you’re using Chromecast to stream content from video-streaming platforms such as Netflix and Hulu from phone to TV. However, users can use Chrome’s built-in Cast features and functions to send what you’ve seen on your PC screen to TV. The simplest method is to right-click anywhere around Google Chrome and then choose Cast. You could also access it by clicking the three-dot icon in the top right corner.

Select a device that you want your browser window on to the Chromecast-enabled device in the popup window. You can also select whether you’re adding a tab to the target TV, your entire desktop, or a certain file.

Built-in music Controller

No need to navigate while you are on a different tab and the music is playing on a different tab. Chrome has a built-in music controller, which is accessible from the music note icon, you can get this icon in the menu bar. You can do a lot from this controller, like play/pause, seek forward and backward. Also, you can skip or go back a track. For YouTube videos, you can try PiP mode, which enables the facility to watch from any tab.

Quick Search

If you find a word or phrase on a web page, don’t worry; Chrome offers a simple, built-in search feature.  Set your searching word(s), right-click and select Google Search for [substantiated text]. A new tab is opened, and your search for Google is shown. Alternatively, a word or a phrase can be highlighted and dragged directly into the all-in-one Chrome web-based search process.

Task Manager

Your Chrome browser has a task manager just like Windows. With the help of a task manager, one can monitor various processes and resources. You can access the task manager through the three-dot icon in the top-right corner and select More tools, then select Task Manager.

Here the pop-up window displays extensions, plugins, and currently open tabs. You can find here the browser’s resources like memory and image cache. By finding the information, you can close the particular item which is slowing down or stalling the browser.

Password Manager

It can be difficult to come up with strong, unique passwords for each website—and then memorize them all. Chrome can support this by creating randomized passwords and save them for later use whenever you want to create a new account.

Google also informs you if and when any of your passwords have become compromised and also guides you to change the compromised one. In Chrome, you can run a manual security assessment from the Settings menu.

Follow these steps Settings<safety check< Check Now. By following these steps, you can run a check for security updates, data breaches, and other issues.
